Vicolo del Bologna (in exhibition until july 12 2023)

Painted on my first visit to Rome, in the neighborhood of Trastevere. Each morning I would leave for a day of painting, drawing, and studying art, this was my first sight out the door of where I stayed. I love this painting because it represents to me the moment I fell in love with the Eternal City. The Vespa, the water fountain in front the ancient wall covered in vines, the cobble stone street, the layers of buildings climbing up to the blue Roman sky.
