Andrew Petterson's Debut Solo Art Exhibition Hosted by Bike Shed LA Features Vintage Motorcycle Fine Art Paintings and Prints.

Andrew Petterson Fine Art is pleased to present, the Hot Shoe Chronicles, an exploration of vintage tank shift motorcycles and its racing community, shared through the artist's eye and the medium of paint. Andrew’s debut solo exhibition with Bike Shed LA captures the fraternity, engineered beauty, energy, anticipation, speed, victory and defeat of vintage tank shift motorcycle racing. The gallery event for Andrew’s exhibition will take place on Friday, October 13th, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m with wines provided by Fess Parker & Epiphany

The Hot Shoes Chronicles is an extension of the artist’s time simultaneously mastering art, engineering and automotive fabrication, from a young age through his present career. His inspiration for this collection stems from the philosophy, art and automotive are separate but equal creative forms, both involving large amounts of skill and creative problem-solving. The intersection of these two passions revealed a narrative that needed to be told: kinship and community, driven by healthy competition.

The unique perspective I can provide as an artist and engineer allowed me to share the special nuances which may not be apparent to the eye of a novice,” says Andrew. “I want this collection to convey how much of a fraternity vintage tank shift riders are. Competition is important, the race is important, winning is important, but what rises above is the relationships cherished through the process, from the bike’s creation to crossing the finish line.”

Vintage tank shift motorcycles possess a heritage prototype and futuristic builds do not have. Each motorcycle tells a story that transcends time, beyond the physical parameters of the machine, to reveal the incredible detail the operator must retain to push the bike to perform with speed and raw energy as it rips around the track. “I have a deep understanding and love for the skill and abilities that these riders have,” says Andrew. “I have had the honor of getting to know and connect with each rider in my paintings. They are craftsmen, and these bikes are one-of-a-kind, built specifically by them, to them, and for them.”

The Hot Shoe Chronicles collection features original artworks and prints Andrew created after a year following Vintage Flat Track Racers around California. Featuring motorcycle legends such as Go Takamine & Grant Peterson, these works capture the friendship, engineered beauty, energy, anticipation, speed, victory and defeat of vintage tank shift motorcycle racing.

The Hot Shoe Chronicles will include 16 artworks and an open-ended print run for the weekend of the show,  To R.S.V.P., kindly visit the Hot Shoe Chronicles registration page.
