Alphonse Mucha
As the father of "art nouveau" Alphonse Mucha's art is recognizable to almost everyone, yet the face of the man behind the art is relatively unknown. He is a unique figure in art history because he was present during a time when photography was becoming more common and accessible and is one of the early examples of artists being seen literally and not through their self portraits or other painters' interpretations. The drawing in red chalk based off a photo from the early 1890s was my way of giving back an artistic interpretation of one of my favorite artists.
