This painting of a distant arch at the Circo di Massenzio is located almost five football fields away from the accompanying painting of the tower at the same ruins. It is nearly all the remains of the 2nd largest circus in ancient Rome. Without remains like these, it would be hard to believe that gladiators and chariot races existed and at a scale that is hard to comprehend outside of a blockbuster film.
