Nosone (translates to large noses) are public drinking fountains and one of my favorite features of Rome. Each is unique in its surroundings and condition but the same in its construction. They are an addition to the drinkable water system of ancient Rome, which provided free water to everyone. On a hot day, they appear like mirages, a place to hydrate and wet your arms and head to cool off. They are constantly surrounded by a joyous congregation, taking a brief respite from the day's heat to partake in one of the most basic human needs before continuing on.
